James Henry Possehl
Non-executive Chairman
James "Jim" Possehl is the non-executive chairman of GMT Global and also the chairman of the board of Republic Financial, a company he founded in 1971. In 2007, he shifted his role as Republic Financial's chief executive officer to a part-time strategic advisory position.
Previously, he served as chairman of both American Identity, Inc. and Headway Corporate Resources, Inc. He is past chairman of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association, past president of the United Association of Equipment Leasing (UAEL), and a former board member of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Foundation.
In 2000, UAEL awarded Mr. Possehl with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Additionally, in 2005, he received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Rocky Mountain region.
Mr. Possehl began his career with Shell Oil before venturing into leasing in 1969 with U.S. Leasing. He holds a certified lease professional (CLP) designation and a degree in marketing from the University of Washington.
